Know what you want and go after it.
With or without a pandemic, it’s important to set goals and work towards achieving them. Sure, some might take longer. Some might be more difficult to achieve, given the world’s current state. But, it’s possible. We CAN accomplish our goals!
Goal-setting is an important first step.
Here are two powerful tools that will help with our goal-setting process. Coaches and mentors all over the world use these.
The Wheel of Life
Sometimes, we make the mistake of focusing on just one aspect of our life and end up forgetting about the rest.
The Wheel of Life is a tool that can help us avoid this and reflect on our goals for the different areas of our life.
Since last year, health has become a priority. But before the pandemic, most of us didn’t really think about it. Many people have been focused on working hard to earn money, to the point of getting sick. Then, they end up spending their savings on medicine and hospital bills.
Most people have been working hard to earn money for their family, to the point of neglecting their children and/or spouse. Then, their family ends up leaving them and it’s too late to do something about it.
A lot of Covid-19 survivors share a common realization—the importance of family, friends, health, faith, purpose, and maintaining balance in their lives. This tool helps us to achieve this balance.
What are your goals for the different areas of your life?
SMARTER Goals
Set SMART goals. Specific. Measurable. Achievable. Relevant. Time-bound.
This is a concept George T. Doran originally introduced. Over time, Exciting and Rewarding were added, which evolved the concept into SMARTER goals.
Specific — What exactly do you want to accomplish?
Measurable — How will you measure your progress toward your goal?
Achievable — How is your goal realistic for you?
Relevant — How is your goal relevant in your life?
Time-bound — What is your timeline and deadline for your goal?
Exciting — How is the goal exciting for you?
Rewarding — How is the goal rewarding for you?

Use these tools to set your goals. That will be a good start. More importantly, don’t forget to take the actual steps to work towards them, no matter how small.
Recently, I’ve been working on one simple goal—to finish my crocheting project. (I’m making a blanket!) This is my way of accomplishing a tangible goal, one square inch at a time.
How about you? What is important for you at this time? Prioritize.
GOALS = GROWTH
